Standing up against domestic violence:

One in five adult males admit to committing acts of domestic violence. Obviously, this is a big problem in our communities, that we still don't want to acknowledge. As Dr. Phil always says, "what you don't acknowledge, you can not change". Many victims don't even want to talk about or admit the extent of their abuse to others. Every victim has a different reason for not wanting to share what they went through.
Every victim has their own reasons why they could not get themselves out of the situation. In addition, we all have our own bias about why a person returns to an abusive relationship time after time or defends their abuser. In fact, maybe we even think that they deserve to be abused if they choose to keep going back to their abuser. Check out your own bias. What did you say about the NFL scandal about player Rice? View the video to check your own bias. What do you think when you discover that she is still living with Mr Rice and married him?

Lets stop the passing of violence from this generation to the next:

Children that grow up in an abusive household, believe that the behavior they witness is normal. It appears normal to them because they haven't had an opportunities to live any other way. So if we don't allow them to live differently, the chances are, they will either become abused or become an abuser in their adult relationships. By providing a new home and a new start, free of witnessing abuse, they finally get an example of what the possibilities are, free from violence.
